Incredible India! Self-sacrificing sisters! Amazing ministries!  These are the impressions that remain with me following my February, 2012 visit to India.

Surely the slogan I heard while in India is well-chosen: "The Sleeping Giant is awakening."  I am so happy that our Indian SND’s are playing such a vital role in the awakening of this wonderfully diverse and gifted country! What a thrill it was for me to visit Jamalpur and hear first-hand accounts of our American sisters' arrival there in 1949. Visiting Patna and many other places where the missionaries' seeds have been sown was an unforgettable experience! Congratulations on this website, which spreads the good news of  the amazing history and ministry of the SNDs in India!
Sr. Marie Manning, SND, Directress, Notre Dame Global Mission, USA

From the very first day that I stepped into Notre Dame Academy, Patna, it became my second home   The Sisters , teachers, students and the working Staff became my family.  Above all, Sister Shobana became my Guardian Angel. NDA gave me a mission and made my life meaningful. I spent 34 valuable years of my life facing challenges, reaching out to children, creating self-confident kids who were ready to face the world and teaching them that each one was a special creation of God. In doing so, I myself learned so much which enriched my life .The most beautiful gift I got was the gift  of the Chapel from where I got the daily strength to handle the most difficult situations in school, in class and in my life .I thank you, dear Notre Dame, for what I am today .

download.pngThe latest from Sr. Valerie Sweeney, SND: I am happy to share with you that I have completed my Clinical Pastoral Education, and am now a qualified chaplain. Although my clinical experience during my training involved visiting patients in the hospital, I am drawn especially to minister with the elderly. God blessed me with a full-time position as Director of Mission and Ministry at Jennings Center for Older Adults in Garfield Heights, Ohio. It is a Catholic eldercare facility with an excellent reputation of outstanding care for the aged. I will help to promote its Catholic heritage and tradition, and also provide pastoral care for the residents. I am very grateful for this opportunity to share God's goodness and compassionate care with the elderly. Please keep me in your prayers, as I remember you in mine.

From Barbara Titus, Vice-President of Sheoga Hardwood Flooring and Paneling, Inc., which is located in Geauga County, Ohio. Sheoga is committed to sustainable forestry and responsible wood sourcing. Sheoga supports many diverse organizations in the community, and Barbara wanted to make sure that her company included a Catholic organization. Barbara says: "I love the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame. I share the Sisters' desire to see women in other countries persevere and grow. I learned about the Sisters of Notre Dame's mission in India where micro-loans were used to help train women so they could support their families and educate their children. This is something that resonates with me." (Seen here with Sister Supriya SND from India)
